Auditions for first production of the 2008-2009 season of Wichita Community Theatre, Driving Miss Daisy, will be held from noon-2 p.m. on July 19th & 20th (Saturday & Sunday) at the WCT, 258 N. Fountain. Roles are available for 2 men and 1 woman. Seeking actors who are able to project the age of the cast members – do not have to be the age exactly – may be younger. Driving Miss Daisy is part of our "focus" season that is a limited run (four nights). Synopsis: Set in mid century Atlanta, Driving Miss Daisy tells the story of an elderly Jewish matron, Daisy Werthan, and her chauffeur, Hoke Coleburn. At first Daisy is none too happy about being forced to rely on a black man. But Hoke gradually wins her over, and during the 25 year span of the play the two develop a deep-rooted affection and friendship. Driving Miss Daisy is a delicate depiction of racial tensions and of growing old. Roles: -Daisy Werthan – A widow - age 72-97 -Hoke Coleburn – black chauffeur – age 60 – 85 -Boolie Werthan - Daisy's son - age 40 – 65 |
